Aachen Body Engineering Days 2025 to focus on lightweight design
by David Fleschen

The Aachen Body Engineering Days 2025, taking place on 16 and 17 September, will once again bring together specialists from the automotive body development sector. Now in its 18th edition, the event has established itself as a key platform for engineers involved in the design, layout and production of vehicle body structures.
Held at DAS LIEBIG in Aachen, the two-day conference will explore a wide range of topics, including current development projects, body-in-white architectures, lightweight construction strategies, joining technologies, and the integration of battery housings into structural designs. Particular attention will also be given to emerging approaches such as mega-cast components and the use of innovative material combinations.
A distinguishing feature of the event is the extensive range of physical exhibits, which are discussed in detail and made accessible to participants, offering tangible insights into ongoing industrial and research-based developments.
Major OEMs—including Audi, BMW, and Lucid Motors—will contribute to the programme, presenting case studies on current models such as the Audi A6 Avant, BMW’s upcoming "New Class", and Lucid’s electric SUV, the Gravity. These contributions form part of a broader schedule of technical presentations, which aim to bridge practical experience with applied research. Each session will be followed by a moderated discussion, allowing for direct dialogue with the speakers.
Participants attending on site will also benefit from catering and networking opportunities, including an evening event at Karls Café, designed to encourage informal professional exchange. A high-quality online broadcast is available for those unable to attend in person, although it does not include access to the evening programme or on-site catering.
