Almatis and ROMCO plan partnership for brown fused alumina

The proposed cooperation will combine ROMCO’s manufacturing operations in India with Almatis’ international sales, technical service and distribution network. Subject to definitive agreements, the companies intend to establish a long-term manufacturing, sales and marketing partnership for ROMCO’s BFA portfolio.

For Almatis, the agreement would further expand its product range following the addition of calcium aluminate cement through a partnership with Çimsa in 2025. CEO Anil Sönmez described BFA as the second new material added to the company’s portfolio.

ROMCO, founded in 1987, produces white and brown fused alumina at its facility in Odisha, India. Its products are used in refractory and other industrial applications. The company is currently expanding its production capabilities.

ROMCO Chairman Ashok Agarwal said the cooperation would combine the company’s manufacturing experience with Almatis’ global market reach and technical expertise, creating a broader supply platform for customers.

The two companies expect to conclude definitive agreements following ongoing commercial and technical discussions. The planned partnership would give customers access to ROMCO-produced BFA supported by Almatis’ commercial, technical-service, supply-chain and warehousing network.
