Bernardo Velázquez Herreros elected Chairman of Worldstainless

The world stainless association has elected Bernardo Velázquez Herreros, CEO of the Acerinox Group, as its new Chairman during the organization’s 30th Annual Conference and Meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Velázquez succeeds the outgoing leadership and will head the global stainless steel association as the industry continues to focus on sustainability, innovation and international market development.
New leadership team appointed
Alongside the appointment of the new Chairman, the association elected three Vice Chairmen:
- Yosuke Sakai, Executive Officer and Head of the Stainless Steel & Titanium Unit at Nippon Steel Corporation
- Sudhakar Sivaji, CEO of Aperam
- Lee Jieun, Head of the STS Marketing Office at POSCO
Frank Koch, CEO of Swiss Steel Group, was elected Treasurer.
New board reflects global stainless steel industry
The newly elected Board brings together representatives from leading stainless steel producers across Europe, Asia and North America.
In addition to the Executive Committee members, the Board includes representatives from China Baowu TISCO, Acerinox Europa, Daido Steel, JFE Steel and North American Stainless.
Tim Collins continues in his role as Secretary-General of worldstainless, while Dr. Edwin Basson, Director General of the World Steel Association, remains an ex officio member of the Board.
