Swiss measurement and automation specialist Endress+Hauser has acquired full ownership of CodeWrights GmbH, a Karlsruhe-based software company, by purchasing the remaining 33% stake previously held by sensor and electronics manufacturer Pepperl+Fuchs. The transaction, effective as of July 1, 2025, simplifies the ownership structure of the company, which has operated as a joint venture since 2002.
Founded jointly by Endress+Hauser and Pepperl+Fuchs, CodeWrights employs around 50 staff and specializes in custom software solutions for the measurement and industrial automation industries. Its portfolio includes mobile apps, cloud-based services, automation software, and embedded systems integrated into industrial devices. Over the years, the company has built a reputation as a reliable software partner and achieved consistent profitable growth.
The acquisition aligns with Endress+Hauser’s broader strategy of expanding its capabilities in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and digital services. “We are very pleased to take full ownership of CodeWrights and thank Pepperl+Fuchs for more than 20 years of constructive partnership,” said Dr. Rolf Birkhofer, Managing Director of Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions. He emphasized confidence in the company’s future, noting: “We are convinced of the team’s expertise and the strength of the business model. Together, we look forward to continuing to drive growth and success.”
From Pepperl+Fuchs’ perspective, the change in ownership supports CodeWrights’ strategic development under a unified direction. “We look back on decades of successful collaboration built on mutual trust and respect, for which we are deeply grateful,” said Lutz Liebers, COO Process Automation at Pepperl+Fuchs. “We are confident that CodeWrights is ideally positioned with Endress+Hauser as sole owner to fully unlock its potential.”
