High investment at AM Neckarsulm

by Hans Diederichs

The ArcelorMittal steel trading branch in Neckarsulm is being further modernised: With a replacement investment of just under one million euros, the site has been given a new blasting and priming plant. After equipping all warehouses with LED lighting, this was the next milestone. In Neckarsulm, the steel trading division of ArcelorMittal Downstream Solutions offers a wide range of cold and hot rolled hollow sections, round tubes and beams made of rolled steel, including the necessary processing options.

"The project could be realised within only three months thanks to a very good and close cooperation between ArcelorMittal and GIETART", comments Franz-Günter Kleine, CEO of ArcelorMittal Steel Trade for Germany and Switzerland.

Now in use: GIETART Marathon A 1506 blasting machine

ArcelorMittal has already commissioned a new GIETART Marathon A 1506 high-power blasting system with 22 kW output per turbine and additional frequency control at the site. The aperture is 1600 x 700 mm and the products are blasted with a beam quality of SA 2.5. The new plant replaces its predecessor from 1992. Higher output, better work results and, above all, an environmental technology that meets the requirements of modern production are the advantages that the new plant offers. Along with the plant, the safety technology and the control cabinets were also renewed.

Additionally, new painting plant GIETART KPC1508

At the same time, a new painting line with two separate paint systems was installed.  Here, two different water-soluble paints can be processed without interruption and without manual intervention on the paint drums. With immediate effect, the ArcelorMittal steel trading branch Neckarsulm now has two basic colours (red and grey). Special colours are also possible on request. In order to prevent paint from getting onto the rollers of the transport system outside the painting plant via the material, an automatic stripping mechanism has been installed on the last roller in the painting plant. For steel trade customers, this means more choice and faster processes, as well as optimised quality, all based on the highest environmental and safety standards.
