Klöckner & Co and Georgsmarienhütte GmbH, a subsidiary of the GMH Group, are expanding their cooperation. Georgsmarienhütte GmbH will supply Klöckner & Co with high-grade CO2-reduced quality steel, which the company will offer under the Nexigen® brand in the "Plus" category. A first delivery by Georgsmarienhütte GmbH comprised 25 tonnes of CO2-reduced quality steel to Kloeckner Metals Netherlands, a subsidiary of Klöckner & Co.

Bernhard Weiß, Member of the Management Board and CEO Europe of Klöckner & Co SE: "Through the cooperation with Georgsmarienhütte GmbH, we are expanding our range of green products under the umbrella of the Nexigen® brand. This enables us to significantly increase the availability of green steel for our customers. We are thus ensuring that our customers will be able to build a reliable and at the same time sustainable value chain even more easily in the future."

Marc-Oliver Arnold, member of the management board of Georgsmarienhütte GmbH: "Our cooperation with Klöckner & Co is another milestone on our way to answering the high demand for green steel. Through our sustainable commitment, we are ensuring that climate protection and economic efficiency are better reconciled. At the same time, by providing green steel, we are helping companies to achieve their own climate targets."

Klöckner & Co and Georgsmarienhütte GmbH want to make larger quantities of CO2-reduced steel available in the future. Among other things, this involves so-called quality steel, which is characterised by high resistance and is used primarily in the automotive industry and in mechanical engineering. The Dutch subsidiary of Klöckner & Co, Kloeckner Metals Netherlands, in particular, will take over the processing of the delivered quantities.
