Made in Steel 2027 expands global programme with Kallanish and SMR
by David Fleschen
Made in Steel is strengthening the international focus of its 2027 edition through new partnerships with Kallanish and SMR – Steel & Metals Market Research, adding market analysis, trade, geopolitics and steelmaking technology to the conference programme.
The steel industry conference and exhibition, organised by siderweb together with Fiera Milano, will take place from 11 to 13 May 2027 in Milan. The new partnerships are intended to broaden its coverage of global steel markets and the challenges facing European producers, including competitiveness, energy costs and decarbonisation.
Global steel markets and specialty steels in focus
Kallanish will organise a series of international market sessions covering three areas: Global Steel Market Outlook, Trade & Competitiveness and The Future of Steelmaking. Topics will range from international market and trade developments to regulation, raw materials, artificial intelligence and digitalisation in steel production.
SMR, meanwhile, will hold a half-day conference focused on carbon and alloy engineering steels, bearing steels, free-cutting steels and tool steels. The programme will examine global supply structures, trade flows, market volumes and demand by end-use sector, including a ten-year forecast. Production costs and the impact of geopolitical developments on engineering steel markets will also be covered.
The international sessions will complement Made in Steel's existing conference programme. Representatives from industry organisations including Assofermet, Eurofer, Eurometal and Federacciai, as well as Italian and European institutions, are expected to participate.
New formats planned for 2027
Made in Steel will also introduce a live video-podcast studio for interviews and discussions with steel industry participants. The Green Steel Challenge, produced by the Willy Korf Foundation and Kallanish Commodities, will record episodes live at the exhibition.
The 2027 event will occupy Halls 8, 12 and 16 at Fiera Milano, providing additional exhibition space. The previous edition in 2025 attracted more than 19,000 visitors and nearly 400 companies from around the world.
