Metso inaugurates new screening facility in Germiston, South Africa

Metso has officially inaugurated its new screening center in Germiston, Johannesburg, South Africa, on January 16, 2025. The event, attended by customers and key stakeholders, marks a significant expansion of Metso's regional capabilities in screening solutions. The new facility, designed for assembly, testing, and painting, is expected to enhance the company's supply chain and delivery efficiency.
According to Ian Barnard, President of Metso Africa market area, the introduction of global technologies adapted for local manufacturing will provide competitive screening solutions tailored to African customers' needs. He emphasized that the new center aligns with Metso's commitment to offering comprehensive screening solutions closer to customers.
Adrian Wood, Vice President of Screening Central, highlighted that the development is part of Metso's regional strategy to enhance market responsiveness. The company has strengthened its workforce in engineering, sourcing, key account management, and technical support to better serve the African market. This expansion aims to improve service capabilities and ensure sustained customer support.
Metso's screening solutions are designed to meet diverse regional requirements and include a variety of products such as the UFS Series™ (Ultra Fine Screen), EF Series™ (Ellipti-Flo), and BSE Series™ (Banana Screen Elliptical), which are part of the Metso Plus portfolio. Additionally, the company's offering includes horizontal, inclined, mobile, portable, and ultrafine screens.
The facility will also support Metso's Trellex® screening media solutions, which provide versatile options ranging from rubber and polyurethane to traditional wire systems. These solutions cater to a broad spectrum of screening applications, reinforcing Metso's commitment to delivering high-performance, energy-efficient products tailored to local market needs.
