Metso has secured an order to supply several Vertimill® 4500 grinding mills for a direct reduction (DR) grade iron ore project. The company said the contract, valued at more than EUR 10 million, was booked in its Minerals segment’s first-quarter 2026 orders.

According to Metso, the Vertimill mills are designed to reduce energy consumption and operating costs compared with conventional grinding solutions, while delivering a consistent particle size distribution required for high-quality pellet production in steelmaking. The company added that the vertical grinding technology is intended to support projects focused on energy efficiency and lower environmental impact.

Metso described the Vertimill as part of its Metso Plus portfolio, aimed at improving process performance and sustainability in minerals processing.
