Resources Pellets Concentrates Pvt. Ltd. (RPCL), Bengaluru, has awarded SMS group a contract for a compact pellet plant with an annual capacity of two million tonnes. The facility will be built in Karnataka, India, with project completion scheduled within 15 months.

RPCL, a joint venture between BKG Mining Private Limited and Fomento Resources Pvt. Ltd., aims to strengthen its resource base and support sustainable regional development with this investment.

SMS group will supply basic engineering, core plant equipment, a spare parts package and an integrated digital solution suite. The digital systems are designed to reduce manual intervention, stabilize production and improve energy efficiency.

The order is among the first secured following the integration of SMS group’s sintering and pelletizing technologies, expanding its offering in agglomeration solutions.

Matthias Gabriel, responsible for agglomeration technologies at SMS group, said the project demonstrates that the company is “fully prepared to meet the evolving needs of the iron and steel industries” and that the compact pellet plant concept “unites innovation, sustainability, and digital intelligence”.
