Salzgitter AG has agreed to sell Klöckner DESMA Elastomertechnik GmbH to the German-French industrial group NAME & MAWI Partners (NMP) as part of its ongoing portfolio optimisation strategy. The transaction is expected to close in autumn 2026. Financial details were not disclosed.

According to Salzgitter, the divestment follows the group's "best owner" principle, under which businesses are transferred to owners considered best positioned to support their long-term development. The sale also forms part of the company's "Salzgitter AG 2030" strategy.

"The decision to sell the company is the result of a careful strategic review and part of our consistent portfolio management," said Gunnar Groebler, CEO of Salzgitter AG. He added that the company believes DESMA will find "ideal conditions for its further development" under its new owner, creating long-term prospects for both the business and its employees.

NMP said the acquisition supports its strategy of expanding production capacity and strengthening its international sales network. CEO Narith Meksavanh said the transaction would help the group meet growing customer demand while reinforcing its presence in key growth markets, including the United States, India and China.

DESMA Elastomertechnik, based in Fridingen, Germany, develops and manufactures injection moulding machines for rubber and silicone products. The company employs more than 500 people worldwide and supplies complete production systems for industries including automotive, energy, infrastructure, medical technology and household appliances.

The buyer, NAME & MAWI Partners, is a German-French industrial group specialising in machinery for processing soft materials. Operating around 10 companies with approximately 500 employees, the group is active in sectors including leather, rubber, footwear and packaging machinery.
