Saritas orders key equipment for integrated stainless steel complex in Turkey

by David Fleschen

Saritas Stainless Steel has placed a major equipment order for its new integrated stainless steel production complex in Yalova, marking an important milestone in Turkey’s efforts to strengthen domestic stainless steel production and reduce import dependence.

The order has been awarded to Austrian technology supplier Andritz AG and includes rolling mills, a cold annealing and pickling line, skin-pass mills and auxiliary equipment.

Technology backbone for cold rolling operations

The equipment will form the core of the cold rolling operations at the new facility, which is being developed in the Yalova Machinery Specialized Organized Industrial Zone.

According to Saritas, the integrated technology package is designed to deliver high surface quality, process stability and energy efficiency while supporting the production of high-value stainless steel products for industries including automotive, household appliances, energy, machinery and chemicals.

Reducing import dependence

With a planned annual capacity of 800,000 tonnes, the Yalova facility is expected to significantly reduce Turkey’s reliance on imported cold-rolled stainless steel products while strengthening the country’s competitive position in regional and international markets.

The new processing and finishing lines will enable production to international quality standards, supporting greater efficiency, consistency and scalability.

Three-phase development plan

The Yalova project is being developed in three phases and ranks among the most significant industrial investments in Turkey’s stainless steel sector.

Beyond the initial cold rolling phase, Saritas plans additional investments in hot rolling and melt shop operations, ultimately creating a fully integrated stainless steel production complex.

Once completed, the project is expected to strengthen Turkey’s stainless steel value chain, support industrial self-sufficiency and enhance the country's position as a regional manufacturing hub.
