Saudi Arabia to host pipeline intervention technology conference

Pipeline operators, engineering companies and technology suppliers will meet in Saudi Arabia in October for a technical conference focusing on hot tapping, line stopping and other methods for carrying out pipeline interventions without shutting down operations.

The Global Hot Tapping, Line Stop and Pipeline Intervention Technical Exchange and Exhibition will take place from 19 to 21 October 2026 at the Kempinski Al Othman Hotel in Al-Khobar.

Supported by the ASME Saudi Section, the event will be chaired by Mousa Al Harbi, engineering consultant at Saudi Aramco. It is aimed at engineers, operators and other specialists involved in the planning, execution and safety management of pipeline intervention and isolation work.

A central theme will be technologies that allow pipelines to be maintained, modified or isolated while remaining in service. The technical programme covers both intrusive and non-intrusive isolation methods, emerging line-stopping technologies and digital remote monitoring.

Safety and pipeline integrity will also feature prominently, including hazard identification before and after isolation, regulatory requirements and personnel safety. Other sessions will examine pressure testing, fatigue analysis, equipment performance and third-party certification.

The programme will additionally address project management for shutdowns and turnarounds and cooperation between pipeline operators and contractors. Case studies will cover both successful and unsuccessful pipeline intervention projects.

An accompanying exhibition will give pipeline technology and equipment suppliers an opportunity to present products and services for live pipeline intervention, isolation and integrity management.
