SMS group will present its latest technologies for cost-efficient and low-carbon aluminium production at ALUMINIUM 2026, taking place in Düsseldorf from October 6-8. At its stand in Hall 5 (A34), the company will showcase solutions covering the entire aluminium value chain, from casting and extrusion to flat rolling, strip processing, automation and digital services.
Spotlight on Europe's largest extrusion press
One of the main highlights will be the recently completed project for Turkish producer ASAŞ Alüminyum, where SMS supplied Europe's largest aluminium extrusion press line.
At the heart of the installation is a 150-meganewton fully electrified direct extrusion press, designed to produce aluminium profiles in dimensions previously unavailable in Europe. SMS also supplied the complete process chain, including press feed equipment, induction heating furnaces and runout systems. According to the company, advanced digitalization and automation solutions improve efficiency, transparency and product quality throughout the plant.
Nexcast® minimill for advanced aluminium alloys
SMS will also present Nexcast®, its compact aluminium minimill concept for continuous strip production. Commercially in operation since August 2025, the technology combines the efficiency of continuous casting with the ability to produce sophisticated, high-value aluminium alloys.
"Nexcast® is a compelling example of how SMS helps producers gain efficiency without giving up capability," said Michael Schäfer, Executive Vice President Flat Products at SMS group. "We link technological progress with sustainable production. This minimill solution is redefining continuous casting and is supporting the industry's shift towards a more sustainable, future-oriented production."
During the exhibition, SMS experts will also present customer case studies, current projects and market trends, with a particular focus on digitalization, decarbonization and next-generation aluminium manufacturing technologies.
