Swiss Steel Group restructures communications in Germany

by David Fleschen

Swiss Steel Group has realigned its communication responsibilities to strengthen its media presence and internal coordination in Germany.

Gerda Königstorfer, Senior Director Group Communications, will now oversee communications with the international trade media. She has been responsible for the Group’s internal and external communications since late 2024 and will continue to focus on advancing the topics of innovation and Green Steel.

In addition, Hans-Jörg Heims assumed responsibility for communications at Deutsche Edelstahlwerke (DEW) in September 2025. With more than ten years of experience in senior communication roles, he will serve as the contact for daily media relating to DEW and further strengthen internal communication at the Group’s German sites.

Helmut Freiherr von Fircks, who has played a key role in shaping Swiss Steel Group’s visibility in both German and trade media, will take on new strategic responsibilities within the Group.

Overall responsibility for Communications, Marketing, and Sustainability remains with Anina Berger, Vice President Marketing, Communications and Sustainability. With this new structure, Swiss Steel Group is sharpening its communication focus — strengthening trade and daily media relations as well as internal communication — to further enhance the visibility of its Green Steel transformation and innovation strategy.
