Saudi Arabia’s Tahweel Metal Industry Company (TMIC) has awarded SMS group a contract to supply a six-high aluminum cold rolling mill for a new integrated aluminum foil rolling complex in Dammam’s Third Industrial City (Modon-III).

According to the companies, the mill is designed to produce aluminum strip up to 2,200 millimeters wide, with final gauges down to 0.15 millimeters. The facility will supply foil mainly for packaging applications, including food and pharmaceutical uses, as well as for other industrial sectors such as automotive.

The rolling mill will form the core of a new downstream aluminum processing site being developed by Tahweel Holding, a regional materials supplier in the Middle East and North Africa. The project marks TMIC’s expansion into aluminum foil rolling and flexible packaging markets.

SMS said the six-high stand will combine high-precision thickness control with flexible rolling capacities, energy-efficient operation and advanced automation to ensure stable, long-term production performance.

The order was formally announced in Riyadh in the presence of government and company representatives. The investment forms part of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” strategy, which aims to diversify the country’s industrial base and expand local manufacturing capabilities.
