Tenova Group has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining developments in environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and highlighting the role of its technologies in supporting lower-emission production in the metals and mining industries.
For the first time, the report combines the activities of the group's metals business, Tenova, and its mining operations under the TAKRAF and DELKOR brands, providing a consolidated overview of the company's sustainability strategy and operational progress.
Focus on steel decarbonization
According to the report, Tenova continued to support steel producers through projects involving direct reduced iron (DRI) technology, electric arc furnaces (EAFs), hydrogen-ready solutions and circular production concepts.
The company also highlighted the selection of its TenovaLAB facility as a European demonstration site for hydrogen-based industrial reheating technologies as part of the HyTecHeat project.
Innovation and research activities
Tenova reported continued investment in research and development activities during 2025. Five of seven European and Italian R&D proposals submitted by the company received funding approval, while three additional projects were launched during the year.
The report also points to ongoing efforts in workforce development, compliance and employee engagement, alongside governance initiatives including an expanded Sustainability Steering Committee and updated corporate governance procedures.
Sustainability beyond the plant
Chief Executive Officer Roberto Pancaldi said many of the company's sustainability contributions take place behind the scenes through technologies that help customers lower emissions, improve energy efficiency and enhance safety.
"Every day, our technologies help customers reduce emissions, save resources and improve safety, creating benefits that extend well beyond industrial facilities," Pancaldi said. He added that Tenova continues to invest in renewable energy, governance structures and employee development as part of its long-term sustainability strategy.
Sara Secomandi, Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer, described the reporting process as an opportunity to evaluate progress and identify future priorities, adding that regular disclosure supports accountability and transparency across the organization.
