The Board of Members of the World Steel Association (worldsteel) has approved the admission of several new member companies, further expanding its global representation across key steel-producing regions.
The following companies have joined as regular members: Almaadi Steel (Egypt), Dongkuk Steel Mill (South Korea), Grupo AG (Guatemala), Hydnum Steel (Spain), İÇDAŞ (Türkiye), Marcegaglia (United Kingdom) and Steel Dynamics (United States).
In addition, K1-MET (Austria) has been admitted as an affiliated member.
Alongside the membership expansion, worldsteel announced that Dr. Henrik Adam will assume the role of Director General from mid-Q4 2026. He will succeed Dr. Edwin Basson, who will retire later this year after more than 15 years leading the association.
Adam currently serves as Executive Chairman of Tata Steel Netherlands Holding and is also President of EUROFER as well as Chairman of the Steel Institute VDEh. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the steel and automotive industries, including senior leadership roles at Tata Steel Europe and thyssenkrupp. His background spans production, R&D, sales, supply chain and corporate strategy, with over 15 years at executive level.
Worldsteel represents around 85% of global steel production and includes steel producers, national and regional associations, as well as research institutes from across the industry.
