Worldsteel announces new Executive Board and welcomes new members

The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has announced the election of its new Executive Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the 2025/2026 term, reflecting the organization’s global reach and industry leadership.

New leadership team

Uğur Dalbeler, CEO of Çolakoğlu Metalurji A.Ş. (Turkey), has been elected Chair of the Executive Board.
He is joined by Thachat Viswanath Narendran, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Steel (India), and Abdulqader Almubarak, CEO of Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed), as Vice-Chairs, with Mark Vassella, Managing Director & CEO of BlueScope Steel Limited (Australia), serving as Treasurer.

Executive Committee 2025/2026

The new Executive Committee includes senior leaders from the world’s major steel-producing companies:

  • Abdulqader Al-Mubarak – CEO, Saudi Iron & Steel Company (Hadeed)

  • In Hwa Chang – Chairman, POSCO Holdings

  • Uğur Dalbeler – CEO, Çolakoğlu Metalurji A.Ş.

  • Masayuki Hirose – President & CEO, JFE Steel Corporation

  • Hu Wangming – Chairman, China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited

  • Tadashi Imai – President & COO, Nippon Steel Corporation

  • Sajjan Jindal – Chairman & Managing Director, JSW Steel Limited

  • André Bier Gerdau Johannpeter – Executive Vice Chairman, Gerdau S.A.

  • Liu Jian – Chairman, HBIS Group Co., Ltd. (succeeding Yu Yong)

  • Lakshmi N. Mittal – Executive Chairman, ArcelorMittal

  • Alexey A. Mordashov – Chairman of the Board, Severstal (passive member)

  • Thachat Viswanath Narendran – CEO & Managing Director, Tata Steel

  • Paolo Rocca – President & CEO, Techint Group

  • Leon Topalian – President & CEO, Nucor Corporation

  • Hubert Zajicek – CEO, Steel Division, voestalpine AG

  • Edwin Basson – Director General, worldsteel (Secretary)

Expanding global membership

worldsteel also announced the addition of new regular members:

  • GPH Ispat Limited (Bangladesh) – represented by Salehin Musfique Sadaf

  • OneSteel Manufacturing Pty Ltd. (Australia) – represented by Sebastian Hams

In addition, Tenova S.p.A. (Italy), represented by Roberto Pancaldi, has joined as an affiliated member.
